I've been accepted to the NICU for my final semester preceptorship!!!!

Published

Hello everyone! First of all nice to meet you!

So I am entering the portion of my nursing program where I have been selected for my preceptorship placing. I get pinned and graduate this December--I don't start my perceptorshop until November however, I want to get a head start on my studies! In my program, for us to graduate we must do 120 hours of preceptorship one-on-one with a registered nurse and I have been chosen and placed on the NICU unit! I'm so excited

I have always wanted to work with children and I'm more than excited about my placement. I will admit I am a bit intimidated about being in the NICU. In my program I was only in the NICU 2 times and both days were spent in the NICU special care nursery and it was mostly observational.

I guess I am just seeking out any words of advice, any study tips, any areas that I should focus on making second nature, and anything that I can do to be a better nursing student for my preceptor. Any tips and information will be great appreciated as well as used to build me up as a nurse.

Thank you.

Congratulations and welcome to all nurses :)

As far as your questions go, I would do a search as they are very common. Wishing you the best of luck and keep us posted on how it's going

Congratulations!! Oh how I can't wait!! I've already determined I only want to work with newborns as a RN.That's one of the main reasons I chose RN school.
