Iv tubing needlestick

Hello,

I have a friend who is in nursing school at this time and she is having anxiety with a needlestick injury...this is how it was explained to me...she was changing primary iv tubing that had a needle stuck in the air port (vent) at the top near the spike. Not sure what was running but I have heard of nurses doing this to help fluids run quicker...she forgot the needle was in there and stuck her palm with it. She said all the tubing was new so to me I told her shouldn't be an issue since no patient contact. She said she reported but they are not the doing testing since it was not a needlestick after touching the patient. I assured her everything was fine that blood could not get to that area especially at the top but I told her I would post to show her other response as well.

If she won't listen to the hospital staff, why would she listen to a bunch of weirdos on the internet? And we're not allowed to give medical advice, anyway.
