Hi
I love being a visiting nurse, but I really miss IVs. We have an IV team, but I need more experience w/ ports etc and IV dressing changes. Can anyone suggest where I can get certification in these areas?
Thank you!

Your own employer should be able to give you inservices in the areas you need experience in. It makes sense that you could have an inservice in the office with someone from the IV team and then go out with the IV team for experience. As far as getting certified in anything other than the generic IV certification class, I would think that specialized certifications, if they exist, would be available from employers or the manufacturers of IV devices. Why don't you ask your supervisors at work if you could get some extra help going out with the IV team? I wish any of my employers had such teams so that I could get some help also. Good luck.

Ditto the above. I'd certainly be asking for help from you IV team.
Our agency provides lots of helpful inservices bi-monthly for any areas our nurses might feel weak in.
We can choose what we want at the next inservice. :)
