I have been qualified for 6 months now and i'm just about to start my IV course. Do you think you should start the course after about 3 months post qualifying or wait a while longer. would like to hear your opinions on this.

According to our policy, the new graduates should have IV course immediately after finishing their 6 months internal ship.

Not familiar with your terminology, but our nurses are taught IV insertion during nursing school (before "qualifying"). You really learn while working, of course. Our hospital offers 6-9 weeks of additional in-hospital training for new graduates and we turn them loose in the lab and same-day surgery in order to get lots of chances starting IV's. One day in the lab and you are a veteran.
