Somedays it just feels like I get the crankiest, meanest, nastiest patients that could ever hope to walk (or roll) into the ER. Those days...are the days that pillow therapy almost becomes an option (joking, of course 😂).
But today, I had the sweetest patients. I had two, sweet little ladies in rooms right next to each other. One of them was 94 (only took 2 home meds!!! 2!!!!) and the other was 84. They were both feisty, and absolutely precious. At the end of their visits, both of them were discharged, they hugged me and said something similar to; "Thanks so much sweetie. You're a real sweet heart and a great nurse. You even got my IV on the first try. Thanks for all you do and for helping me to the bathroom so much."
It's days like today that help me remember why I'm a nurse. I love (most of) my patients and couldn't imagine doing anything else.
Anyone else had any precious ones lately, or patients who really are rememberable (in a good way)?
