Hello Guys
I'm an Italian male nurse with various experiences abroad, 28 years old and single. During my degree I won a scholarship and I moved in Finland for three months. That was a fantastic experience, I've been in such a different culture that radically changed my life. I spent that time in acute care(A&E, ITU...ecc) and when everything was finished my only thought was moving from my country ASAP.
After my graduation I decided to try UK just because it was near my country and the conversion process for my degree was really fast. So I found a job and i worked four months in a Nursing Home and after that I'm still employed in an Haematology unit, basically I'm a Chemo Nurse, and I've been there eight months. Since a friend of mine told me that I should move to Australia because "you can build a better professional and social life and THERE'S THE SUN" I started googling and read any kind of good experiences from nurses around the world.
To be honest with you i was REALLY IMPRESSED and i applied for the AHPRA conversion (pending). What I'm thinking about is:
-How does it works for the professional development?
-Were do you suggest to relocate for save money(i know, i'm talking about money and it's boring but we need money to survive ) and have a decent life?(i'm afraid but it's impossible in London)
-Do you know, approximately, how much should be my salary after tax for month?(still talking about money... )
Thanks
Lorenzo

I would suggest you do 'agency' nursing. This is better payed and you have more control of your time. If you really want to save money, go to one of the rural areas. However you may find that you need some ER training to go really remote. Or, stay in Melbourne or Brisbane (Sydney very expensive) and also do agency work.
Salary based on years of experience.
As a first step i should find a job in hospital and make some australian experience or not?
I got in total 1 year of experience...and what about the professional development?

If you need to make money, contact the agencies listed below:
NURSING AGENCIES, AUSTRALIA

If you want somewhere cheap to live, Adelaide is probably ur best bet. Perth is comparable to Adelaide what with rents, and is more beautiful & more friendly IMO. Sydney & Melbourne & Gold Coast etc will be expensive to live in. You can try & find share places though try: http://www.gumtree.com.au, and http://www.realestate.com.au
Western Australia is different from every state in that it is run by a body called NurseWest, who can be very strict with their nursing standards, and they control all the hospitals etc in WA. Also if ur accussed unfairly of something, they won't support you & u get no say in what happened to defend yourself. It's a bit weirder than other states.
If u have 1 year experience you will get work, especially if u have critical care experience which u say u have. My agency is always telling me that they are desperately short of experienced RNs - if you want work right away, come to Adelaide in Southern Australia. But all the agencies in all states seem busy (well they're always contacting me anyway!). Of course there are more jobs in bigger cities, but if u aren't fussy re what type of nursing work u will do, u can ALWAYS get jobs in nursing homes and long term care places.
Good luck, I hope u like our beautiful country. And the summers get VERY HOT! So come prepared!
I'll be prepared for the sun...thanks for your info carolmaccas66 so you suggest Perth instead of Adelaide or the rural nursing it'll be better(or maybe it's better wait till i'll get the right experience)?
-if my salary will be like 60.000 AUD how do i calculate the taxes?
-has anybody any kind of info about the professional development?
Salary goes by what level/division RN you are, so I can't tell u what you will earn, but probably to start off with anywhere from $37-$40 per hour, more on arfternoons, night shift & public holidays, approximately $60 per hour. Different states have different RN levels too. Tax goes by how much you earn - if u dont' earn over a certain amount each fortnight, then u don't get taxed, email the Australian Tax Office (ATO) for more info: www.ato.gov.au
Agencies do prof development courses, the big ones more so than smaller ones. If u check the newspapers & websites, there are private courses run all the time, but they can be expensive. Try to go thru an agency who can pay part or all of ur course expenses.
Good luck.

Are you talking about agency?it's sounds like the heaven...
Sorry also 4got 2 add that when u work agency, it also depends what place u work at as to what u get paid. It's not a flat rate. Cos I'm studying for a higher degree if I work at certain private places - even if I'm charge nurse or not - I get extra money. I get $56 on a normal week day depending upon where I work.
Yes it's pretty good money & agencies will compete re salary to hire you, so look around carefully and ask re salary first, on diff days & at diff hospitals/facilities.

You do not get paid more for post grad degrees in victoria, while you are studying.
Certificate/diploma/masters allowance is only paid if you are working at that level or in specialty and you already have the degree. I have friends who work interstate, same specialty, same deal in Queensland and NSW.
To work agencies you must have work rights to do so, as a permanent resident etc. working holiday visa's I do not think, you can work just wherever, whenever.
Therefore you will have to be assessed for immigration first through ANMAC.
