ISU lpn-bsn online program?

I am currently a lpn seeking to become a RN and wanted to know if there was anyone out there who is currently enrolled or completed indiana state university's lpn-bsn online program. If so can you please share some of your experiences? An online program seems like it would be great, however wondering can i really get what i need to transition from a complete online program...any info would be greatly appreciated!

Hello!

Indiana State University has a distance learning BSN program as well as a brick and mortar school. I was previously a student at Excelsior College . Their clinical is a 3 day exam, with 3 different scenarios. It is not for everyone. BUT I do have several friends who completed their ASN though EC and have great things to say about it. However, not one of them have chosen to earn their BSN there.:confused:

ISU has clinical sites in most states. The school and your preceptor help you to set up your clinical at local hospitals. (for distance learning) They have provided me with much appreciated support- -even while completing the prerequisites for their BSN program. Their exams are given by a proctor in your area (this person is chosen by you and must complete an application and screening process through ISU) This is is contrast to taking exams in a testing center for Excelsior College.

I have also heard good things about ISU's program at my WORK. I receive a much more enthusiastic response when I am asked about the program and school I attend. It has a great reputation.:up:

Good luck to you in which ever program you choose. Working full time and going to school is always a challenge. Thankfully, I have a very supportive Nurse Manager.

Thanks so much for your reponse!!! I just got licensed as a LPN so next step is BSN. I agree that ISU has a more reputable program considering that its approved in almost every state; however excelsior is not. I've spoken with multiple reps from ISU and college network so I am going to give it a try. Furthermore, I too have a great mentor from my LPN program who states she is more than willing to help me transition if I have any problems. So best of luck to us both! ;)

So how is it going for you at ISU?

ME: I applied but I got to take the 4 challenge exams which are a little costly for me, I wanted to start this fall but now i'm aiming for January 2012 semester if I can get these 4 challenge exams passed by Nov. 1 dead. I am a recent LPN grad Dec. 10', and looking at the jobs on the market and the pay, I am so ready to get my RN. I have a 9 month old and my goal is to have my RN before he enters kindergarten. I'm so hesitant to take the challenge exams without prepping myself although i'm hearing its really just material we coved in LPN school. But we only get 3 tries to pass and that concerns me. So i'm working on finding a proctor so I can take that step. I'm in GA and I heard the preceptor is in Marietta, ga which is right outside Atlanta, but 1.5 hours from me, but its cool because I drive to Atlanta all the time.

I was just wondering what are these 4 challenge exams and do you have a material to prepare for them? I reside in LA, CA with current LVN also looking to get in to ISU online BSN program, and wanted to see if anyone in my area has done or doing it. I would appreciate any info. Thanks in advance!

Tameika, have you started your journey with ISU LPN-BSN? I too live in georgia and was interested in attending ISu.

I just spoke with the Nursing College yesterday at ISU and they sent me an email outlining the entire program. From what I read, Phase III alone of the LPN-BSN is designed to take 3 years to complete. Can anyone confirm this?

I just got my info today about ISU. When I sent them an email, they responded that the nursing classes alone take from 2.5 to 3 years as a part time student. I hope it helps.

I plan to take all required classes before I start the application process.
