Issues applying to BON as a UK resident

Hi everyone

Me and my fiancé are starting the process of emigrating to PA, USA. I’m a Scottish nurse who trained here in Scotland, UK. I’ve applied to CGFNS to have my degree evaluated (I know I may have deficiencies but will cross that bridge when/if I come to it) so my next step is to apply to PA BON.

I’ve had major issues trying to apply for initial licensure the website seems to take me back to the start so can’t progress with my application.

I sent an email but no reply so phone direct today. The call handler from IT told me it’s probably because I’m trying to access it from the UK and the only way around this is to get someone from the US to access it for me?! He said a VPN might work but would possibly time out when I get to the payment stage. That was as far as the help went so I’m totally stuck.

Pretty ridiculous and unhelpful tbh, just trying to see if any foreigners like myself have had similar issues. Don’t really know where I go from here!

Try contacting your local politician's office where you will be moving in PA. Try looking up local Committee Persons, Senator's, Local Representatives. They have helped me with licencing issues in the past. Seems the PA BON is understaffed and backlogged at times and sometimes politicians can grease the wheels...

Sounds about right for the PA BON. I think 13 ppl make up the board and last I saw there were quite a few open seats and they are actively taking applications. Short staffed!! ?
