Is it worth waiting for VCC LPN program?

Published

Hi all....Please and Please Help me out....

Is it really true that waiting list for LPN at VCC is two to three years??Is it worth waiting to get into VCC LPN??

If that's the case, I am thinking about applying to a college in calgary, get the diploma and move back in future....(my friend's been asking me to move there). And I understand that the calgary program is longer than BC.

What do you all think?

Please give me some advise before I make the move.....Thank you all.

I don't know if the wait is that long, I've heard it is, but you'd have to contact the school directly to find out.

FYI, Okanagan College in Kelowna, Penticton and Salmon Arm/Vernon has no waiting list. You apply with the minimum pre reqs and if your marks fall into the top # of applicants who apply, you get in. If you don't get in, you apply again. I got in on my first try, no wait list.

Please whatever you do don't go to private schools. I went to vancouver career college and it was the biggest mistake of my life! the education is just not the same. you end up not as prepared as people who graduate from vancouver community college, douglas or bcit. they rip you off and they are very unorganized.

is the 2-4 yr wait worth it...NO. Bow Valley College in Calgary and Norquest in Edmonton both have online lpn programs with the same prereqs to get in as vcc and NO waiting list. Yes its longer but you will be able to transfer into Athabasca's lpn-rn after completion and 1700 hrs. By the time you finish you will STILL be on the VCC waitlist. I am in the same boat between going to Alberta for lpn or Bellingham and more and more the Alberta option is looking better and better each minute.
