Is it usually this nuts getting the paperwork done?

I am signed up for an assignment in Dallas, Tx. I go in today to turn in final paperwork and suddenly they need another vaccine and some other things. It completely stressed me out. I am moving out of my apartment tomorrow and putting it all in storage. What is the normal moving bonus. Mine was 250.00. I had to pay for my own hepatitis booster out of that. Is it always like this?

The paperwork part was stressful for me too but I feel like they should have given you way more money for moving bonus and they should pay for any vaccines/boosters you need! What company are you with? Im with medical solutions- who are AMAZING by the way. They gave me $800 for travel reimbursements and paid for any vaccines/pre stuff I need before traveling. They also reimbursed for my ACLS class too! This is my first assignment though so Im really not sure what is "normal". Can you still negotiate how much money you get reimbursed? Good luck!

I'm with AMN and also get paid for all these things. Also get $800 per contract for ceu/education stuff, $600 travel, they also make appointments with local clinics for any medical needs in my contracts. You need to get a better company or recruiter that works for you.

There is also something with every contract that you will need. Keep a running file on your computer of everything you get done so you have it readily available.

If you are getting a travel contract, that is not a moving bonus, it is mileage reimbursement. It sounds like you are becoming itinerant with no tax home. As a result, all your compensation, including mileage, housing, and per diem reimbursements are fully taxable. I hope you didn't do this on your recruiter's recommendation to "just use your parent's address". This won't fly if you get audited and your recruiter will not be there with you in an audit.

If you are actually moving to Dallas, you probably would have done better getting a staff position. You might well have received round trip travel to interview, and significant real moving expenses to relocate, and possibly a sign-on bonuse.

Yes, paperwork is a real hassle, and agencies often "find" required stuff they didn't tell you about before. Some agencies, like the ones others have mentioned here, do a better job. However, the first time is the worst, and after that you will know (mostly) what you need annually, or with every new agency, or, in the case of TB, possibly every assignment.
