In Tucson, besides PCC that offers the nursing program? I know the university, but any other schools?

Rio Salado is supposed to be here doing clinicals at the VA. Also, you can go through NS through PCC by doing their program at TMC. I also heard that Carondelet has their own program (possible through PCC as well).

You still need to have the pre-reqs though. The Rio Salado program may have more Pre-reqs, if they keep the same as they do for their PHX program.

Then there is the LPN option. Are you interested in that route?

I've never heard of those, lol. Thank you for always being such a great help to me. I appreciate it! Not really interested in the LPN, but I am no totally aganist it.

Edited to add: Also, what is VA and NS?

If you get your LPN first, then you can enter PCC at the 3rd semster with no wait. You can find a nursing home (yes, I know it sucks) to sponser you and then you usually have to give them a year of work. But, you will be halfway done with nursing school, and have nursing experience already. It is the fastest was to get done with NS.

But I totally understand not wanting to go that route! It's good to have other Tucson people here! Is it getting ready to storm where you live? It's hot and dark on the east side...

VA is the Veterans Hospital. NS is short for nursing school!

Will keep those in mind, thank you! It's starting to get a little cloudy. I'm right by the foothills. River/Campbell area. I love when it storms though! But, not too much of the heat lol.

Ok, thank you!

Another question sorry. I'm also asking for my twin sister.

Is there a wait to get into the LPN program?

I work with a PCC instructor. Next time I work I'll ask her about the off site PCC programs. I've heard from a tech at TMC that she got hired as a tech and got accepted into the program there in less than 6 months. You have to give them 2 years, but that's better than waiting for 2 years just to get started! Good Luck!

Oh, last I checked there was little to no wait for that program. Most people just don't consider it as an option. However, it's $$$$ (believe it on not!!) So it's best to find a good place that will sponser you, or work for a place that offers you tuition reimbursement. Usually though, you can find a nursing home that will sponser you because they want/need nurses to stay and work for a while!

Thank you for your help! I've heard a little about the TMC school thing, so I'll have to research it some more! Again, thanks for the help! Just trying to see what all my options are!

A gazillion students who are on Pima's ADN list and waiting are on to the LPN option. There is now a 1 year wait for the Pima's LPN program once you are accepted. It is at the Desert Vista campus. The tuition alone is about $10,000 for the ONE YEAR LPN program at Pima.

I'm not so sure if you can enter block 3 at Pima's ADN program without a wait now, because almost all of the LPN students at Desert Vista are planning on entering block 3. This is what a Desert Vista advisor told me. I cannot fathom paying 10k tuition for a one year LPN program.

Really??? That sucks! Bummer, I've been telling everybody to take that route.

I Know the tuition is outrageous!!! I guess I have to stop telling people to go the LPN route...
