Is it Possible to use Travel Nursing as a Way to Relocate?

I am just curious if it is possible to use a travel contract as way to relocate to another state? If so, are you able to stay on with the company/hospital or are you under contract to not work for them?

Thanks everyone!

It is generally better to go straight to staff. For one, you will probably get better sign on bonuses and/or moving allowance. A big issue going with an agency is a non compete agreement in the contract that will require the hospital to pay a large commission if you go staff. Hospitals are reluctant to do that in today's hiring climate.

Thanks for your reply.

So NedRN do you mean go straight to staff with an agency?

I know people who did that and I think that's not a bad idea. This way you know if you like the place and they know if they like you. This is a good, low risk option, in my opinion.

Direct with the hospital. Some agencies do recruit for staff, but again, you probably would like to have the hospital pay you a sign on bonus or relocation than pay that money for an agency commission.
