Is it possible to take Anatomy and Physiology at the same time in 6 weeks?

Published

Hi, I'm trying to start an MEPN for fall 2011, and need to finish the prereqs.

In the first six weeks of summer, I'm currently taking stats and studying for the GREs. For the following six weeks, San Diego State University is offering the two classes from 7/8/10 to 8/18/10 as follows:

Anatomy 9am-1:30pm, MTWTh

Physiology 2pm-3:40pm MTWTh and 4pm-7:30pm, TTh

How feasible would this be? In general, I'm confident in my ability to learn and study (went through law school at the

top of my class) and did earn a minor in biology (though this was many years ago and did forget most of it)...

Has anyone else taken anatomy and physiology at the same time as a summer class?

Up here in Oregon, the A&P is taken together in one class. Oregon State Univ has a summer A&P course that is condensed into a similar amount of time. Hopefully, you will be studying the same body systems at the same time in each class. Give the prof(s) a call or email to ask if this is the case. Otherwise it would be a little confusing to go over the anatomy of the heart and be expected to understand the physiology of the kidneys. If the classes mesh together, it is very doable and in fact easy to become immersed without forgetting important facts. You won't have time to get even a day behind on reading or homework. And don't have any family emergencies.

I would check first whether you can even take them concurrently. In a lot of schools, anatomy is a prereq for physiology (or if they do A&P combined, the A&P I is a prereq to A&P II).

Both anatomy and physiology are SO important. Do you feel confident that you can retain significant amounts of information presented in a very short period of time?
