Is it possible to switch/transfer between nursing schools?

Published

I was recently accepted to Farmingdale's transfer BSN program from Spring '14 but I've also applied to Stony Brook's BSN program for Fall '14. Let's say that if i get into Stony's program, can i ditch farmingdale and go to Stony for Fall '14?

Note: i am aware of the fact that nursing programs generally don't accept crdita from other programs.

Of course, you can always switch schools, but you will probably have to start from scratch at the new one. Even though all accredited nursing programs have to meet the same minimum educational content, they are free to choose how they want to deliver it. For example, one program may have a separate Pharmacology course, while another one may opt to integrate Pharmacology curriculum into each clinical area. That makes the transfer process extremely difficult unless the two schools have already established an articulation agreement.

Best of luck to you!

You should ask the other school.

You say you have been accepted to Farmingdale's BSN transfer program for Spring 14? They just started doing interviews this past Wednesday and the next round of interviews is scheduled for this Wed. How did you hear about your acceptance so fast?

I assume that I have been accepted, I mean if i made it past the first two stages (the hardest ones) , its pretty sqfe to say that i'm in. Secondly, I highly doubt if they use the interviews to weed people out, isnt thaf what the pax-rn was for?
