I have a patient with cervical fracture. She wasnt paralyzed and she had feelings of both legs and able to move her legs etc.. Today she was complaining of feeling tingling sensation on sole of both feet. Is this something thats expected with cervical fracture and is it a sign that its healing or does it mean something else?
If you're questioning that it may be a problem, do the sensible thing and call the doctor.
It really depends on where the fracture is and the stability of the fracture. Don't let the patient hang, just call and report your findings. They are new, correct?
Call. I had a c-spine fracture (and hematoma) patient one night who had terrible burning/tingling pain in his hands and only his hands. Moving all extremeties, alert and oriented, neurologically intact. We started him on our solumedrol protocol and within 24 hrs it was gone.

It all depends on the nature of her fracture. If she is having any sensation changes, the physician should be called. And I can only assume that she is in c-spine immobilization?
