Is 26,800 too much for an LVN program in California?

Hello I'm going to be entering an lvn program at a private for profit school. Yes I know, I don't like for profit private school either. But at the moment I don't have the luxury of being on a waiting list or waiting years to get into school.

I have have regected schools that are charging up to 30k for lvn programs. Because I'm aware that is ridiculous, and I'm a CNA so I kinda know the range of how much money lvns make. I also don't plan to owe over 20k worth of dept. So I only plan on getting fed student aid and subsidized loans, NOT the unsubsidized laons, those are traps, if I have to work and go to school, I will, but I know it is going to be hell.

If you are an lvn please provide your opinion! Is it worth it? If not Do you know of any other schools I can get into this year?

Hi Peridot!

Based on what colleagues have shared with me, and a quick check of the old messages here mentioning tuition, $26,800 is well in the average even looking back a few years.

Based on your awareness that there are less expensive programs, and your plan to attend a private for-profit school is based on your prior research, I won't comment on that.

These schools get a bad rap, but not all are the same so if you haven't done so yet, make sure they're accredited, what their NCLEX pass rate is, as well as any past actions against the school at the BVNPT website

Wishing you the best in LVN school.

It sounds like you are going with a sensible knowledge of the requirements. Best to you!
