Is MCI VBeach accredited?

U.S.A. Virginia

HI! IS MCI in VA Beach an accredited institute? I am interested in their RN Program (15mos.) but I am confused coz somebody told me it's not accredited. I am currently doing the pre reqs of Sentara's RN prog. but I heard about MCI and I was told that their RN program is shorter (15mos.) than Sentara (22mos.) What is the benefit if I join the MCi than Sentara? I would like to spare myself time to wait to be included in Sentara's RN program which will be in Aug. (need 13 credits more/pre reqs). That is why I am considering to just study at MCI. But I want to know if it is worth it. Eventually, I want to pursue higher educ. in nursing, but can I do that if I study at MCI? I wonder if my MCI subjects will be credited if I transfer to another school? Where can I find out if MCI is accredited or not? Thanks for your hep.

Woot! to you guys! I am not graduating until April due to unforseen circumstances. But I do hope that you guys will look me up and find me. My name is Heather C. Ask Mrs. Dowling or Mrs. Lipsmeyer and I am sure they can point me out to you. I will be back in February. I would be happy to make the trip up there to meet you all.

Are you guys going to be day or night students? I am a night student and I have worked all the way thru so maybe I can be of help.

Hi Heather! How was it working the whole time? What has worked for you doing it all? I had my interview last night and was told that most do not make it working and school together. I have to work. I really do not have the option to quit work if everything gets to be too much. I figured I would have to learn to work on less sleep and study during all free time. I also have saved my vacation up at work so that if needed I can take a day when needed (up to 22 days).

I can tell you in all honesty, most quit their jobs, but I, like you, must work. I have 2 classes left and I do believe that I will finally be quitting my job for the last mod.

There is only one other person in my class that works.

I don't recommend it if you don't have to do it. But with a lot of discipline, hard work, and support you can make it thru.

You will end up using your vacation to help you thru. Your house may look a mess more than it looks nice. You may look a mess too. But it can be done.

Try to work it out with your employer if you can. With no husband or kids....I think it is definitely doable.

I am not going to lie and say it was a cake walk. But it can be done. It takes a lot of planning and sacrifice. At times you think you might lose your mind but it can be done. I will be back in February. Look me up. I will help you any way I can.

what are the hardest classes? how are the teachers in those classes? whe do you start clinicals? how many classes do you take at a time? i have so many questions, would you mind if i called you? if I can, what's your number? my screen name is the same as my real name. it's Delvenia Rush...

I believe that depending on where you have come from (background wise) will determine the difficulty or ease of a course. And a large part has to do with the instructor.

I believe that they are starting clinicals in Nursing Concepts I now.

A&P and Micro are not so hard as they are labor intensive. Stay focused and you will do well. Dr Nik is a good instructor. As she would say "Put your mind to it".

Med Surg is a beast....again...not so much as it is hard....just very, very labor intensive. I think you will find it and Acute Care a little mind blowing. Try to stay focused and stay out of the dramas. But when I say stay out of the dramas, I do not mean don't look for friends. You will need each other to make it through.....

I don't mind if you call me. Let me see if there is a way I can PM you my number. Call me in the morning if that is ok. I will be happy to answer any questions you have.

Ok...I just want to say "YEAH ME!!"...I got the call this morning that I have been accepted. So Delvenia, I will be in the class with you. I was told during the interview last Thursday that the orientation will be 12/21 in the morning. When I got the call this morning, I was told the orientation will be on 1/2 at 12pm and classes start on 1/3. I left a message with the registar to get a copy of class descriptions for the first 2 classes since I need to use tuition reimbursement. My work's policy is that the application must be turned in prior to class start and with the course descriptions. I really hope I can get this prior to 1/2. So now begins the excitment but still a little scared.

10 Woot Salute!!!!! Congrats to you both!!

when i went to the registrar today to pick up a letter stating that i had been accepted (to apply for scholarships), i was told that orientation wasnt scheduled yet and it will likely be on 1/2/07. my admissions officer didnt tell me when orientation was last because he said he didnt know yet. Kiwan, the registrar is very helpful. I asked for my letter today and she had it ready a couple hours later. She will probably call you back by tomorrow. By the way, CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!:balloons::balloons::balloons::balloons::balloons:
