Hi,

I am currently a staff RN on a med surg floor and I was offered a job with a home health company. I am VERY excited but I wanted to know in your opinion is home health better than working in a hospital? How and why? Any response is greatly appreciated.:wink2:

Yes! I do hospice . . . . . . no OASIS paperwork though. :yeah:

I would never go back to the hospital.

i have worked in all kinds of nursing positions. I love, love, love being a home health nurse. The hospital is way too busy and patients are way too sick for nurses to try to take care of 5-6 patients at a time. In home health, as a nurse, I can visit with my patient 1-1, no interuptions, no other patients ringing the call light, no md's at the desk. In their home, you are on their turf, and their comfort zone, they will absorp what you teach them and you can leave knowing you actually taught the patient something to help them!!!!
