Is home health desperate for RN's?

Published

I have been unemployed since september 2010. I have had a couple of offers but none that interested me. I am choosy now because I took early social security to maintain an income flow. This means that I can only earn a certain amount of money until I reach full retirement age.

I see barrages of ads for RNs by home health agency's. Most of them specifying experience preferred. I have applied to a few but never had any offers. I did work in home health about 19 years ago but I know it has changed. It seems to me that there cannot be enough experienced nurses to fill all the vacancies that appear in the classifieds. So....whats the story? Any suggestions for getting employment in home health?

Sounds like you are facing some type of age discrimination, otherwise, why would they turn down someone with experience? Are you telling them that you have a limit to your earnings? That may also be a turnoff in terms of how much they could overwork you.
