Is my GPA and Teas test score competitive enough for BSN?

Published

I got my first grade back for my teas test. It was an 85% which was not quite I wanted. I feel like with a gpa of 3.37 and 85% teas score is not competitive enough for nursing B.S. I've searched several schools like CSUEB, CSULB, CSUB, CSU...most of them preferred a minimum GPA of 3.5 with an 85% Teas score. Should I retake the teas test? Do you think that will significantly increase my chances of getting in?

I'm going to apply for the Fall 2011 school yea and I can't take another teas test until November. The date they accept the latest application is Nov 30th, that seems like I'm pushing it if I try to complete the teas and send in the results that late. But I'm hoping with extra studying I can get a second grade that is about 90%. If not would I gain something if I had a higher teas grade for the ADN degree?

i think ur score and gpa are really great, i wish they were mine. Can you please tell how u studied for the teas because I just took mine today and I got a 72% and i want to get at least an 80% next time.

I'd try and retake the TEAS as long as a worse score wouldn't be looked at by the schools your applying to. Good luck!

I would talk to other students in your area, since I think its so different everywhere. An example would be at my school it states a 70 is considered passing but after talking to people at school I found out they will not even look at applications that have below 80. So look at the requirements and ask around and I would apply to as many schools as you can.

CA is really impacted, that being said you should give it a round 2. Even then it's not for sure an awesome score will let them overlook your 3.37 when they are looking for a 3.5 so be sure to have rocking letters of rec and have your essay evaluated by an English major (Professor is preferred).
