Is it ever going to happen?

Published

this is my first thread on here. i have been on here off and on for a year. i am almost 21, been taking general prereqs for a little over a year. my husband is in the military. my husband and i had been tryng to get pregnant for almost 2 years with fertility assistance. we fell pregnant with twins in december of 2008. the first week of february, i miscarried. i applied to a rn program march and was accepted, i had until july 1st to accept or deny.

well long story short we found out in may that we are expecting again:eek:. if the baby came even 2 weeks early, i would miss more than 2 clinicals and my finals, ... i would not get credit for the time that i had put in, and i would not get my money back. i didn't want to chance it, so i had to decline:banghead:.

now, ... i have no clue what to do. my husband could pcs or deploy at anytime. the only thing that i can think to do is to do a medical assistant program online with 2 on site clinicals.... it would be self-paced... atleast doing this, i would have something to show for my school time and a career in the medical field. all i can do now, is apply this spring for next fall semester (2010) and hope that my hubby stays here. please let me know what you think or if any of you have suggestions.

I don't have any suggestions or recommendations, but congratulations on your pregnancy. :ancong!:

Congratulations as well!

This is just my opinion, and what I would do in this situation, for what it's worth. I would go ahead with the MA program first since it is self-paced with only 2 clinicals. You have a huge, life changing event coming up with the birth of your first child. You will have more choices to make once the baby is here - take it one step at a time. If your goal is to be a nurse - you will, in time. Babies tend to take up a lot of your time, energy, etc. See how you fare, and if you think you're ready and you have a good support system, re-assess your situation with all the new information. One step at a time! You'll get there!!

Good luck!

Congrats to you! I think at one time or another we all feel like the pieces just aren't going to fall into place. It's perfectly OK to take baby steps towards your goal. Go to the MA class, then when things are more certain go for nursing. It will happen someday just keep your head up and know that you can do it!!
