I see many threads with people worry about getting accepted. Is it really that hard to get accepted as an officer right now?
Is it harder if you are currently a student vs already have a degree?
My background:
25 years old (turning 26 this month)
3.89 GPA enrolled in BSN program, currently sophomore, will be a junior this June.
Married with one child
I have a clean background, no drug/dui/traffic/felony/misdemeanor/etc. issues. Nor do I have any medical problems.
I like the incentives for paying for school / stipend, however they are not my only reasons for joining (grew up in a military family).
What would be the hurdles stopping me from joining the Air Force?

Most people who are unable to enter the military are due to the physical or to prior convictions etc.
Getting into the nursing arena (in general) is not that competitive as long as you meet all the requirements. The other major factor is being flexible in time. Air Force is somewhat small and pretty popular for nurses... so you might have to apply early next fiscal year. If you talk to a recruiter and they say the quota is met.. I recommend talking to them about your goal of being to apply early next fiscal year so that way you do all your paperwork, physical, etc now in order to apply first thing in oct/nov. Perhaps a recruiter might say come back next fiscal year... but I'd try to do all the initial hurdles now so your packet can just be pushed forward when slots are open next fiscal year (if this year's quota is met). Otherwise your stats look good.
