Is there a CLEP exam for TX Gov't?

Published

I plan to take the CLEP exams for US History 1/2 (6 credits) and American Government (3 credits). Here in Texas, to get a BS, there is also the requirement to have 3 credits in TX Gov't. I have tried researching whether there is a way to test out of TX Gov't but the answer is unclear to me. I see that UT offers a TX Gov't exam as what appears to be an add-on to the American Gov't CLEP but I haven't been able to confirm that this is to test out of the class. I don't see TX Gov't listed as a stand alone course on the CLEP website.

So, does anyone know if it's possible to CLEP out of TX Gov't or am I stuck taking this class?

I wish! If there is don't tell me. I had a BS in another area from a private university that did not require govt, so when I applied to a public Texas University I was forced to take government and another history class I didn't have. I get it "well-rounded" but when we have to take all of these science and math classes......I'm a little too round (literally and figuratively). :wideyed:

Nope. If it existed, I would have done it. I had to take the class.

I was afraid of that! I am signed up to take it Spring semester. Fun times.

What school is this for? I took it at UT-Arlington in Fall 2017. Basically it was a native Texan and his viewpoint on Texas history. Somewhat easy A.

I tried CLEP'ing out of American Government and got a 53 on the exam but at UTA you need a 60. If I had been at USF where I had actually taken the exam it would have counted (50). Ugh.
