Hello,
Do you think that the CDI field is still a good career to transition into? I've been doing some research and it sounds like a good fit for me and something I'll be interested in. However, I've seen people say it's a hard field to get into without experience. I'm currently a RN of 7 years with most of my experience in ambulatory setting and some experience in LTC. Can anyone share their views on the CDI field such as what you did to get there and if the transition has been worthwhile. Any pointers and tips would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

I just started a CDI position with a hospital. Hiring managers in CDI typically look for at least 5 years of experience in the acute care setting, but that is not written in stone. I have more than 11 years of ED/trauma and almost 5 years in clinical appeals. Very excited about this role! I would encourage you to apply even if you don't meet all the requirements. Hospitals hiring for CDI tend to provide thorough training to those without CDI experience. Good luck!
