OK, first timer on this website.
I am post grad 10 years and I have started my degree pathway post icu course (18 months) and I read mixed with podcasts to educate myself to a professional appropriate standard . I apply my knowledge and share like we all do in the best interest of my patient to attain optimal standards. However, i was working with my boss the other night and he mentioned that I was talking to the dr and he noted that i have been reading without thorough understanding.
I know this is sporifice but so was his reasoning for mentioning this, I just feel personally bitter towards him as I have found my ICU job very difficult through the years and my personal proactive education has given me bags of confidence and I am at a stage now that i can happily move up a grade.
Sensitive? yep but i also acknowledge that I am good nurse mixed with a good mentor and colleague to all that I work with.
I personally believe that pride is dead when I put my nurse badge on and that objectivity is key

maybe he felt threatened by your progress? it does seem a little passive aggressive, especially after all of your years of experience, why would he need to tell you that?

it seems from your writing that your pride was hurt and unless your boss makes condescending remarks to you frequently then you need to look at this with more objectivity.

I think if he just left you hanging without explaining himself or better explaining the topic you were talking about then that is kind of rude and pointless. If he elaborated a little bit,.. or a lot a bit then I would view it as peer teaching.
