Is B a good grade? What you think.

Published

I have more B's than A's.... and I don't like it. I only have one -C because my grammar was awful, so I took grammar class and got a -C. I almost had to retake the class. As my English improved, I've been doing good.

I wrote to someone from the university and she said that I need good grades for A&P 1/2, chemistry 1/2, and microbiology to be accepted at the BSN nursing.

When she means good grades, I need B's and A's? So B is considered a good grade, correct?

I applied for a TRiO program for low-income student.. they help you with anything.. with classes, etc. I hope to get accepted so I can get help from them to get good grades for A&P, chemistry, and microbiology.

Find out what the school that you plan on attending wants. Most likely they want you to do really well on your science courses. So get A's and those and try to keep your gpa above a 3.5

Aw! I checked my total GPA and it's at 3.19... :(

I am going to try to get A's for my classes. I want to get it up.

My GPA is screwed because I had a full-time job and I had no time to study.. so I was getting B's. =\

I know you want to get the pre-reqs done as fast as possible so you can get into a nursing program and get on with your life... it's that way with me at least! Anyway, you may want to consider slowing down your pre-reqs. When I took mine, I never took more than one science at a time, just so I could keep my grades up. You may want to consider doing the same, or at least something similar.

If you have a full-time job, take only one, maybe two classes at a time but no more. Your GPA should be your main concern, if it takes you longer to get into NS, so be it. If you pile on the classes trying to pull them up at all once, you are going to be in the same position you are in now. It may add time to your graduation plans, but at least you will be making progress with better grades and not just spinning your wheels with the same grades you made before.

I have heard of people here who have taken years to get their pre-reqs done and realistically, it may be something you may have to consider. That, or consider other school options (such as an ASN that draws by lottery or a school that has a lower admittance GPA).
