Is anyone willing to hire a nurse w/ stipulations???

Nurses Recovery

Published

I recently was approved for my RN license to be reinstated after 8 years out of nursing due to an alcohol problem. In May of 2013 my license was reinstated by the BON and I was excited and ready for a fresh start. I have been sober for 3 years and have made a complete turnaround not only in my work life but more importantly within myself. I now know the meaning of loving myself, a concept that I thought I would never understand. But it seems that the spiritual awakening I've experienced is not enough for a future employer to give me a second chance. I've put numerous job applications in the San Antonio area and have had 2 interviews but as soon as I disclose my past I am swiftly shot down and the interview is over. No one takes the time try to get to know me and what I have to offer not only as an employee but as a human being that has overcome great obstacles. My current employer is very supportive of my return to nursing (Im currently working in a dental office), and is almost sorry to see me go (if I ever leave)...As I walk away from my failed interviews I feel bad for those who don't have the heart to listen with an open mind.....I have a lot to offer any employer....Sad thing is that they can't get past the PAST.....I know I am living the consequences of my choices and I can only point the finger at myself. I love life now and I should be content with my present life....but I feel like there is a sense of purpose misiing within me and my current profession. I feel like I should be sharing the gift that was given me with others who have felt the emptiness I felt for many years. Patience is a virtue, I hear!! But it is difficult!!! Please if anyone knows of any employers who are willing to hire an RN w/ stips let me know. I come HIGHLY recommended by my current employer and am fully confident in myself that if given the opportunity I have a lot to offer....HELP!!!

Send me email address and I will send info! Thanks!

Anxious Sally how do you like your new job? I hope it s going well for you.....

I had an interview 2 1/2 weeks ago and it sounded promising. the DON said he was going to run my application by the regional manager of the dialysis clinic and I was very excited. but this past Monday I called to follow up and he said he would call me back but never did. so I called him back today and he said he was working a finding a position for me and for me to keep trying and follow up with him every now and then. boo hoo! im so disappointed! I feel like he just led me on. but oh well. I wont give up. God will open that door for me someday. please send positive thoughts my way. take care!

Hey Sally congratulations! Let me ask if I may if u could let me know where u got a job in sa? I just moved here have stips but down to just having employer send in paper ever 3 months. I am desperate and would appreciate any help. And again congrats. We all deserve so much better!

Hi I was also out of nursing as an Lvn for 9 years. In 2003 I made a bad choice and tested a dirty u.a. I just got reinstated and with main stipulations no narcotics for one year and direct supervision for a year. I never had anything to do with meds at wrk.. I used once bad choice. One of the worst ever. I have 12 years experience. Behind me. I have multiple experience mainly ltc. I worked as cna a medaide and an lvn and adon. I wrkd in so many diff hospitals icu, pcu, med surg, Post partum, tele, special care nursry, renal transplant and wound care hospitals and rehab hospitals. I was so excited when I saw my license was reactivated. I couldn't wait to go back to work to the only Job im comfortable with. And when i begin my job search I then realize how difficult it was going to be. Im devastated. The place I did my clinicals at suddenly didnt have openings and every ltc facility says they cant hire me because I have narc stips for one year. So at interviews they love my xperience but as soon as I mention stips the interview ends. Im devasted that I cant find a job. Waiting this whole time to not be able to wrk.

I need an . Idea where or how to begin to get a job with these stipulations. Im in the SA area.

Congratulations!!!! :-) so it is possible...I wont give up.
