So, I received this email for the past two semesters. It was an email about The National Society of Collegiate Scholars... They want me to join their organization. From what it said, less than 20% of University of Alaska Fairbanks (my school) was nominated for this organization because of the GPA of 3.4 or better that was achieved for each semester. Also, they claim that less than 800,000 students are in this program nationwide. What is it??? Is anyone in it? What is your experience with them??

It's just an honor society that wants lots of members. I wouldn't bother with it unless you're planning to attend school at George Washington University where they give most of their scholarship dollars.
Check at the college you attend to find out which honors societies they'd recommend. Most require a membership fee, so don't waste your money unless there's some benefit.

I googled for information and found out that it is somewhat similar to other campus groups, although it is national.
If you have an active chapter on your campus and you want to be actively involved in a campus group, then it might be something to think about. They might have events which you could participate in on a regular basis with other students and faculty.
If you have no interest in carving out time for such a group, then you should just ignore it.
Thank you!
