How competitive is the Nursing program? what gpa did you have when you applied and got accepted to the program??? Any advice????

From previous posts, someone mentions that LIU has a very horrible nursing program and be very cautious when you apply there. I don't remember the specific detail about the school but if you do a extensive search, you might be able to find the post.

Good luck!

I knew someone got accepted this fall, however they change there mind because they demand to many credits before starting the nursing clinicals. The GPA to get in is a 2.7. Its not competitive to get in.

Hello, i attend Long Island University. right now im a prenursing major (sophmore)and im going to go into the program next year. my gpa is a 3.1. u only need to be a 2.75 or above to get into the program. my counselor said that ninety eight applicants usually pass the nclex. im not sure if she is lying or not because she Is a counselor. anyways what else would u like to know?

I was just looking at the prereqs yesterday, and I saw Psy 107, 108,3 and 150. I can't find on the schools website what they are. Also there are 3 different English classes. I was wondering will they let you use elective in other courses if you don't want to take all 3 English classes.

The three english courses are part of the core curriculum for any long island university student. I could not find the three psychology courses either, however I have a checklist which lists all the courses that i was given that the advisor gives to the students and it only lists psychology 3 which is intro to psychology and another one called developmental psychology. so that's two courses. i dont think the course bulletin is updated or i might be wrong.any other questions?

Thanks for responding, I just came from admission and they gave me the Bulletin of all the courses. Your right, its only 2 Psy courses, they also told me that they will accept my Clep classes and if I transfer 50 or more credits and have taken Eng. 101, I don't have to take "Core Seminar". I live in Brooklyn Heights, so the school is ideal for me to attend. The couselor also told me that the school have a high passing rate on the NCLEX exam.
