I'm applying for the spring'15 and the application deadline is September 1. When did you have to take the TEAS? How was it? and when did you get an acceptance letter?
Is it hard to get accepted? Did you have previous healthcare experience? What were your prerequisite grades?
How is the overall program? ANY advice?
Hey guys, can I ask why you chose crouse out of the rest of them..st joes, occ, ccc, morrisville etc. and if u guys have done a lot of research prior to selecting ur school?? Heres why I'm asking... Crouse isn't super expensive but occ or ccc is about 10G for program so there r cheaper routes.. And I heard that if u go to ccc or occ or the eve program at st joes.. U would only have 1 day of lecture and then a day or so for clinical which is nice if u want to work and I think at crouse u have to be present in class/clinical more often....like 3 to 4 days weekly... I'm sure I'll go to crouse but I'm still waiting for stjoes and ccc with their decisions.
Hi nursynrs- I applied to both St. Joes and Crouse. I had originally wanted to get into St. Joes because I have other weekly commitments and the evening/weekend program seemed to work well for that. I have never actually been to that campus. When I went to Crouse a few times I really loved the atmosphere and vibe I got. Then I realized Crouse was about HALF the cost, so that was another positive!! I am still waiting on a decision to St. Joes and will decide at that point. I hope we get those decisions soon so I can make a choice.
@nursynrs- I chose Crouse as my No. 1 because I actually really want to be in class everyday. I was in a hybrid BSN program prior to this and I didn't like the online atmosphere, the online lectures, and 1 day a week lab. I'd rather be in class everyday and given "in-person" lecture lab, that's really important to me. I also wanted a hospital based program because that would give me a lot of room to make connections within the syracuse area. Finally, they have great articulation agreements with regional colleges for BSN programs after graduation.
Also, I totally agree, the vibe at Crouse was great for me. They have lots of tutoring available, their Simulation lab is crazy, and their library and computer labs are fantastic.
It's hard to make a decision when you have other commitments, but I think it's incredibly affordable and has a great reputation in the region. If you're a little back and forth, try and make an appointment with the administration of other regional schools (CCC, OCC, TC3, JCC, Joes) for a tour or look and see when their next open house is! Open houses are great, I went to a ton when I was trying to decide where to apply!
If you have any other questions, definitely PM me. I research schools like crazy. XD
