Published

The physician orders megestrol acetate 500 milligrams per day. The megestrol acetate label reads, oral suspension 40 milligrams per milliliter. Give _______________

1/40=x/500 500/40

Give 12.5

This answer seems wrong to me. We are doing Parenteral dosages.

The easiest way to check yourself by multiplying 12.5 (the number of mls in your answer) by 40 (the number of mg per ml). If they add up to 500, then you're good.

yes, your answer is correct. i do the math differently.

500 mg
(dose desired)
/40 mg
(dose on hand)
x 1 ml
(amount the dose on hand comes in) =
12.5 ml
, which i would round off to 13 ml in the real world.

by the way, i looked at your other post of problems and never saw anything like them, so can't help you like 'em.
