I have heard both good and bad about many of the companies... personally I think it boils down to the recruiter.

I traveled with AM for 18 months and have no complaints. My pay/housing was comprable to what others were getting at the same hospital and my recruiter was great - she always call right back etc. Also - she was much more concerned about me finding the right "fit" instead of just getting me placed, unlike some of the other recruiters I have delt with.

I have never worked for them b/c I have always heard bad things about them. However, a friend of mine just took her 1st assignment with them and she's very pleased. She said she's making the same $ as the other travel nurses that are with other companies. She also said that her housing was very nice. good luck.

i have found them to be reliable and the biggest reason i have gone with them contract after contract is that they were simply the company that was able to find me the job i wanted

be sure to bargain when you speak to your recruiter - pursue opening with at least one or two other companies and then use your alternate offers to drive up your rate of pay - get free housing - or perhaps a bonus

after all all agencies are in it for the money - just like us - so they don't always give you the most money up front - sometimes you have to ask for it!

We are on our 5th assignment with AMN . According to wife the pay is approx. the same. We have a nice recruiter that when we call and she response back immediately if not on the phone that moment. We have had excellent housing on each and every assignment. The best so far was cathedral ceiling and a fireplace!!! However it was during spring and didn't test out the f/p. Each apartment was in a very nice neighborhood!!

everyone has a different experience, Ive been with AMN through 3 contracts and havent had any major issues.

I am currently on assignment with AMH , my goal this year was to try a few agencies , and choose one to travel with after the experience .

I am being paid 2.50 $ less than a coworker working for CCTC , and my second pay period I did not receive my direct deposit . ( Agency reports not receiving my self faxed timesheet ) . No one contacted me to say a time sheet wasn't received . ( issues resolved in short order , but very stressful event none the less)

Needless to say , that's a big mark against the company for me . Never had payment issues with the other two agencies I worked with . Some issues are tolerable .. others ... ARE NOT !

how do you start your own agency? I saw a site that provided info but can't find it.

Do u think going with a travel RN agenncy is better than going right to the hospital you want. Does anyone know about community nursing in Northern California?

I like to think that choosing a travel company is a lot like choosing a college or university for the first time, it's overwhelming and a lot (unfortunately) just comes from trial and error! Although I think that majority of seasoned travelers will admit, it all comes down to the relationship with your recruiter! I've worked with both big companies and small ones, and just have learned that you need to be able to ask and bargain! Apply to two or three companies and than bounce offers off them all, trust me they are all makin' lots of money!

My husband is nearing the end of his first assignment with them. At first we were alittle irked, cause we didn't know our housing assignment until the day we headed out here... for some reason when we called no one knew what was going on with it. But it's been good and he just signed on for another 13 weeks in AZ. She seemed to help us out A LOT more researching the second assignment. She found hospitals with the best pay and HUGE bonuses.
