Hey! I'm applying for the Indian River State college's RN program for fall 2012. Anyone else applying this semester?

sooplm, what is the scholarship you referrenced from the nursing foundation? where can we apply for that? I found a bunch of nursing ones on the STARS website.

nomijen, besides the scholarships that are specifically for nursing, did you apply for others? where did you find these?

Here is the nursing foundation link. The application is due I think June 1st and scholarships awarded in September, so not sure if it will help for this fall semester, or if it reimburses, but any help is good help. Good Luck, JenniD008!

Good luck guys, wish you all the best of luck. Just finished my practicum and graduate on May 4th. To everyone that has this option available I HIGHLY suggest getting a position as a PCT/CNA at one of the local hospitals as soon as you can. Once you pass fundamentals you are able to become a technician. I got a job as a nurse intern at martin memorial right before GI started and it was by far the best decision I have ever made. Be nice to the nurses you work with and you will learn sooooo much and it will greatly benefit you not only in school but also for your future as an RN. These are gonna be the most stressful couple of years in your life but trust me, keep your head held high, take a deep breath, and jump in!

Does anyone know what books are currently being used in Fundies? I can't find the booklist, it seems as though the Spring semester's list isn't on the IRSC website anymore.

Thanks, zbean! I saw a job listed a couple of days ago for a nursing asst. and it said you can apply right after Fund. I thought that was awesome, becuz I am really worried about surviving financially during nursing school.

I got some royal blue polo shirts on clearance from Butterfields and was going to sew the IRSC RN patch on them...do they allow this in lieu of ordering the shirts they offer? The ones you order are $25 and I got these for $6 each on clearance...trying to save money where I can...LOL

JenniD008, I printed the list a couple of weeks ago, knowing it may well change, and took a chance on ordering 3 books on half.com. I only ordered three of the cheaper books so I'm not out much if it changes. I just looked on the River book store and saw it is missing for NUR1020C...I can only guess they are updating/changing some of the books listed.

Ms Camacho said at orientation that don't bother getting books now becuz they don't have them right now at the bookstore...funny, I was in there on Friday and they had lots of Fundamentals books...hmmmm...anyway, good luck! If you want, I can scan and email you the NUR 1020 list I have, but, like I said it is probably being updated. Let me know :)

Wow, you got the blue tops really cheap! I wonder if they still have a lot of stuff there?

And I was just curious about the fundies books, like what edition they were currently using and what it was called. Just curious. I'd love a copy if you have it and it's not a bother....my email is [email protected]

Hey JenniD008 I just sent you a list of all the books and prices. They are of the previous spring semester but I wouldn't buy them yet until the official list is released May 2nd.

In regards to the CPR....we can't do it until after June 1st, and our paperwork isn't due to be submitted until August, so it'd be okay to take the CPR class in July then, right?

Yes, you can take it in July...I'm doing my re-cert. in July as well.

Did anyone else notice that the Fall registration schedule is up?? Is anyone else confused by this extra "Chastain Campus" option? I'm not quite sure what it's for?

Hi Jenni! Just looked at the schedule, too. It would be wonderful to have the Chastain option. I wonder if a schedule will be released, separately, for this campus like there was for the Okeechobee Campus.
