Invitation for hospice event then employment rejection?

I received a personal email invitation to attend a hospice/home care event from a local hospital in which I have a resume on file. I have 5 years of home care experience as an STNA and now a new graduate RN. Instead of attending the event, I applied to the hospice jobs online like the letter instructed (if I couldn't attend). The letter mentioned that I was personally invited due to my background in home care. I apply to the jobs and within 24 hours I receive a rejection notice that I don't meet the qualifications! Very frustrated here. I am thinking of contacting HR personally about this matter. Why go through the trouble of inviting me to an event and then rejecting my application? I'm surely glad I didn't waste the gas! Just give a new graduate a CHANCE already!!!!:sniff:

I would think they are considering and you should have gone and networked because they were thinking of breaking their "no new grad" policy in light of your background.

They would not change their whole computerized system just to let your app thru when they normally wouldn't consider you.

I would try contacting someone and explaining the situation. NICELY! Without complaining about their system if you still want a chance.

You're absolutely right. Maybe I should get out there and network! The event is tomorrow. I hate to miss time from work, but it's not like it's inconveniencing my client since his wife is actually off work that day. Thanks for the advice! :cat:

Definitely go!

If I was invited to the event, and I wanted a job with that employer, I would go to the event.
