Does anyone know if Invisalign smile correction is authorized in the Army? I know you can not have the traditional metal braces on when you transition to active duty, but since the Invisalign is removable, and not permanent can I continue with my treatment? Also does anyone know if the Army dental insurance will cover it after I go to active duty, or will I be stuck paying out of pocket?
Any info would be helpful, Thanks:)

I have traditional metal braces and I leave for training on monday so I will let you know once I get there. I have a few friends who were in the military and had braces so I didn't think it was a problem. I do know that TRICARE doesn't cover for anyone over 21.

You can use Invisalign, but it's all out of your pocket. If you can get diagnosed with a hypoplastic mandible or similar malalignment disorder requiring a Le-Forte, etc - we'll pay for it all.
I don't think I need LeFort, but I do have an anterior open bite that is pretty significant, and there is no habitual behavior that can otherwise explain it.
Go to a base with a dental residency program. They will likely dx you with a severe enough condition that warrants full tx. Staff docs don't have the time, but residencies - perfect training opportunity.
