introvert research nurse

Published

Hi nurses!

I am an introvert and I found that bedside nursing is not for me. Dealing with people is not something that I am not best at.

I want to try something that does not require much human interactions.

I have thought about becoming a research nurse because I really enjoyed my Chemistry research when I was in college.

My question is. What is your job like? Do you stay in a lab and extract some viruses or pathogens? or Does this job require human interaction a lot?

I would really appreciate if you could give me some ideas about what research nurse's regular job is.

Thank you!

I think this might depend on why you're an introvert and if you can even get along with people on a superficial level.

What your post brought to mind was a laundry lady in a hotel I worked in that used to drive everyone insane and yet she worked by herself.   I'm assuming you're not in any way similar to her.

It also brings to mind some people I worked with decades ago who would turn and look the other way and not answer when I talked to them.   It used to be a welcome relief when the more outspoken girls came to work.
I would think that even if these poor communicators were working in a lab, they would be getting a lot of complaints.

I do understand your not wanting to work with a team of health workers who are capable of stirring up trouble and who have rigid expectations.
