Hi there! I've lived in Vegas for 2 years now, going to CCSN. No kids, no hubby, just a wonderful boyfriend and a house :)

Specializes in recovery room.

Hi all! I'm Pam and live in Boulder City. I graduated from a diploma program in 1973 and recieved my BSN in 1980. I'm a retired Air Force Reserve Lt Col. I'm a Certified Post Anesthesia Nurse and do some legal consulting on the side. Currently I work recovery room part time in a free standing center and in a hospital.

I'm Kim and live in Las Vegas. We have been here just over two years now and I'm getting ready to start my first semester of nursing school at CCSN! I'm very excited and can't wait to get started! (You may have to remind me I wrote this come the middle of the semester! Hee Hee :chuckle) I am a military wife, my hubby is Army. We have two daughters, two dogs, two cats, and some fish. We just got rid of the turtle, kids are next....just joking! We've grown kindda attached to them! I don't work so in my free time I like to play on the net, shop, do a little bit of crafty things, meet new people, travel, try new things, hang out with friends, whatever. As a family we like to camp, do outdoor things, four-wheelers, snow machine, fish, blah blah blah. We plan to retire in Alaska which is where we are building our house now. Am I talking to much? Did I mention I like to talk? Better go before I have a ten page report! I look forward to chatting with everyone and learning as much as I can from all of you!

Toodles,

Kim :)

Specializes in ICU, psych, corrections.

Hi! My name is Melanie and I just finished up my first semester of nursing school at Western Nevada Community College up here in Carson City. I'm planning on working in the ICU after graduation and just started my job as a Nurse Apprentice at Washoe Medical Center in Reno. 1 semester down, 3 more to go!!!

So Melanie, give me the real scoop is first semester as bad as they want us to think or worse???

I didn't think it was too terrible, but many of my classmates did. I ended the semester with an A, B+, and B. But it was a lot different than other classes. Not just rote memorization, but actually applying what you knew to situations. The testing was much different than anything I was used to and I had to learn how to take them. But overall, I think the reason the first semester is so difficult is because it's laying the groundwork for the remainder of your program. You are learning all the basics (some of which is incredibly BORING). I hated Fundamentals and having to learn about Roy, Watson, etc. But I enjoyed the semester and am looking forward to Spring!!

Hi everyone! my name is Darlene I cant wait to start the CCSN Spring 2005 RN program. Is there anyone out there doing the same?Hope everyone has a great Holiday!
