Intro...from a nervous student!!

Hello everyone!!

My name is Lori!! I found ya'll tonight while looking for hesi test info. So I am on the cusp of entering nursing school but I am too scared to apply. I have only 3 courses left to enter a BSN program at a university and I have been ready since last Spring. I decided not to be a nurse when I got almost all my pre-reqs done and decided I would be a teacher. So one year later I am looking at my 3.98 GPA and remembering how much work I have put into being a nurse and I am thinking I will at least go through the application process. I can still apply to the education program since I am ready for that as well and if I dont get accepted I will be an english teacher instead. I love both science and writing. :)

But I am still scared of the process. The whole fear is just silly on my part. I am worried I have not retained enough info in my science courses, that I will bomb the interview and that I will get rejected. Can anyone else relate?

I think I can safely inform you that every person who has ever applied to nursing school felt the same way you are feeling now. It is supposed to be a stressful and difficult process -- the school wants to make sure they have the best candidates in whom they can invest their time and money. They want to turn out some GREAT nurses!!

Everybody is worried about forgetting information, but you would be surprised at how quickly it will come back to you. You suddenly will remember things you thought had long-since been forgotten.

As for interview anxiety, you can start doing mock interviews even now. Many schools offer these services free of charge through their career services dept. If your school has no such program, even practicing with family and friends can make a big difference.
