Interview times two, need advice??!!

Published

I was recently accepted into U of M's CRNA program. I have a chance to go to another interview at U of D. Do you think I should go to U of D's interview?I have a $1000.00 deposit due at U of M by Jan. 10th. The interview for U Of D won't be until Jan 16th. Any advice?

I am sure not my school, University of Miami.

To answer your question, I would dance with the one that brung me. If you left a deposit, I am assuming you were accepted.

Don't spend more money than needed. That is what I would do.

Yes, if I were in your position, I would first find out if the deposit date could be postponed to say January 19th. Honesty may not be an option, however I believe if a program is a good one, they may even expect you to get a second interview to compare their program to another. In that way they would also receive valuable information as to the competitiveness of their program. You may have to be a little obtuse (Not copletely honest) in order to accomplish your goal. Second, I would call "D' to find out if the interview may be moved up to say the 12th of the month allowing you 96 hours to make a decision. I believe this is your best option because you can be straight up with them. Challenge the second program to do better for you. Challenge them to be pro-active in recruiting you. You are already accepted to "M" Let "D" sell you on the reasons their program is better than "M's" Hope this helps

Pay the $1000, go to the sceond interview, and if you are accepted to 2 programs you can make a choice. I was in the same boat, I paid the $1000 and just found out I was accepted to the second program I interviewed at. For several reasons, I have decided to lose the money and go to the second school. I'm privaledged to have a choice and I think I made the right choice for me. You have nothing to lose by going to the second interview, but at least you give yourself the best opportunity.

When will you know if you were accepted to U of D if you do go to the interview? This may weigh into your consideration.

Thank you all for your input! Everyone's perspective will help me to make a decision. I feel a little greedy knowing that I am accepted into one and have a interview with the other. I kind of feel like I am in a ethical dilemma as it may ruin the chance for someone else to get an interview. Thanks again!
