Interview timeline question

I have applied to a few schools and am waiting to hear back. One school emailed me to let me know my application is complete and that I will know if I am selected for an interview in mid October. They hold interviews the third week of October. Is this normal?

This would give me a week or less to book a flight, rental car, and hotel room since I am coming from out of state.

    Im in a similar situation. How are you going to get off work if you are scheduled on the day they interview? That seems like it will be the biggest problem for me. I have thought about trying to call and ask what day they hold interviews so I can plan ahead.

    The interview dates are on their website so I've already hopefully have the time off. It's just the expense of doing everything last minute and hoping I can find a hotel room and a rental car.
