Interview

I am so excited I had an interview for a NICU position yesterday. As I was walking out and for a few hours after the interview I had a great feeling about it and thought it went really well. Today is a different story I feel like it did not go as well as I thought it did. I just really want a job in the NICU it has always been my dream and my passion. Any advice to help get me thru the next few days would be great. I should know if I got it next week sometime. Has anyone been hired in the NICU that did not get a tour of the unit before leaving? I did not and I don't know if that makes a difference or not? Any thoughts would be great.

Thanks:confused:

I'm surprised that they didn't show you around, but I'm not sure if that's a reflection on how the interview went or just a reflection on the people that you interviewed with.

When I interviewed in the NICU, I thought it went great. I left there feeling so confident. I really felt like I had to get hired after that amazing interview, but I woke up the next day feeling anxious. Like, what if I only thought it went well? My friend interviewed the same day as I did (but in two other units), and she got a call from HR at 0800 the next day with offers from both. I then thought that I wouldn't get hired even though the two units she interviewed in had nothing to do with NICU. I just let my anxiety get the best of me. I did get a tour of the unit, but don't assume the worst yet. I waited 6 days for a response, which seemed like forever! I did get the job, but by that time I was sure I wasn't going to get it. Just try to relax, and don't let your stress/anxiety get the best of you.

P.S. Maybe the manager was having a very busy day or had a meeting right after your interview and didn't have enough time to give a tour. I'm not making excuses, but these things sometimes do happen.

I remember when I went in for my interview at the NICU I currently work at ..... I was offered the job on the spot but I didn't get a tour of the unit.

It was insane that day though, very busy and a lot going on. The manager took time out and did a thorough interview, but I could tell it was a hectic day just from what I could see around the place. If I would have asked for a tour, then I have no doubt she would have given me one ..... I was just so excited to be offered the position it had totally escaped my mind to ask for one.

I'm sure you did just fine! I know the waiting is hard, but hang in there. Good luck to you!

Thanks everyone for the words of encouragement. I did get quite a few responses from them saying "wow that was a good answer and that was the most detailed answer we have gotten to this question." So I am hoping these were good signs. I will let you know when I find out." Also it was a little busy that day both of the managers interviewing me got calls during the interview which delayed it a little bit. So I am just hoping and praying for the best.

Good luck from me,too! Let us know.
