When I interviewed for a tech position they asked me scenario questions to test my critical thinking. They also asked me about my experiences thus far in nursing school. Many interviewers are looking not just for the right skills but for the right person that will fit in with their unit. So, be yourself. Show that you are a personable team-player. Dress professionally and prepare a list of questions about the job. Show respect and courtesy during the interview. You don't have to have all the right answers to get the job, but you do have to show that you are willing to learn and easy to work with.

I know posts about interview questions come up alot, but I feel I have a different situation than most. I am a senior level nursing student and will be interviewing for a job as a tech in the pediatric ER. The job description recommends EMT/first responder experience and demands a CNA or EMT license. I have a CNA certification but have only worked as a nursing student tech in an outpatient surgical unit where I spend most of my time getting blankets/stocking, doing intake assessments, taking vitals and calming down delirious pedi cases that come out of the OR. I discovered here that I really like pediatrics and then this job opportunity came up. I was hesitant to apply as I don't have much experience but I think this is where I want to be. The nurse manager said she's definitely interested in interviewing me and I hope my nursing school experience in clinicals accounts for something.
Can anyone offer feedback on what interviews are like for techs? Will my knowledge or lack thereof be tested or is it mainly to see if I can handle the stress? Thanks in advance!
