Interview questions

Why don't you share some of your ideas with us to stimulate discussion? I would prefer to do that rather than simply supplying answers for you to use for your interview.

As a nurse in an advanced role, it will be critical that you learn to articulate YOUR ideas -- not just rehash the ideas of others. That's what they are going to be looking for in your interview. They'll want to see that you can articulate your ideas and interact in a conversation about them. They will not want to hear "pat answers" that have been over-reheorificed and that come from someone else.

So ... what are YOUR thoughts on those questions. If you share them, I'll be happy to react to them.

Thanks for the interest in my thread...

Here is goes ( the short + simple version)

1) What is your vision for nursing.(from a future Advanced nurse-CNS point of view)

I believe a advanced nurse holds a multifaceted role. The roles of a CNS can vary Depending on the hospital and in your specific area of specialty. However, a CNS nurse is expected to be a clinical expert. It is their role to educate fellow nurses as well as patients to obtain the best results. I am excited to start the accelerated masters program so that through the rigorous coursework of scientific concepts, health assessments and methodologies I may be able to be of some assist in creating a more pleasant environment for the staff and patients.

2) How are you willing to accept your role of authority

As a "fresh" graduate, I would accept my role with humility and a bundle of confidence. As a new nurse out in the field, i believe humility is very important. Obtaining a advanced degree through a accelerated program gives you a disadvantage; lack of experience. Being open minded, and willing to accept help from others will definitely be key in reaching my potential. CNS have roles as a educator and expert clinicians. Although my experience may be minimal, I am confident that through my years in the graduate program, I will obtain the knowledge necessary. I will be confident and take my responsibility seriously.

3) As a CNS's Leadership role, how would you deal with conflict and resolution.

I would bring a clear head to the table. Listen to the different perspectives as well as taking down the different factors involved in the conflict and sort things out from there.

..this question is a big vague...not quite sure how to answer this>?

4) WHat are some contributions you want to make in the nursing field?!

As cliche as this may sound, i want to make a difference in the nursing field. Growing up with family members constantly being hospitalized I've realized how important a friendly smile or a warm "hello" can be at a hospital setting. I would love to research on patient care treatments involving the most minimalist tools such as a :nuke:. I guess this goes more into therapy department but with a BA in the fine arts and art theory. I would love to use what I have learned previous to create some kind of synergy effect in the hospital setting. This can include using certain colors to ease patients highly irritated state, or holding some kind of art activities among fellow nurses to build sense of community?!

hmmm These are just some thoughts going through my mind as I recall the interview questions. I have researched and researched on CNS's however, I am still quite unfamiliar with the CNS role-
