Just started the nursing program, and have my first assignment... interview of a professional nurse. Any RNs are more than welcome to answer these questions..

1. what is your title?

2. what are your nursing responsibilites?

3. are you an hourly or salary nurse?

4. how long have you worked on this unit/dept? how long have you worked for this company?

5. what continuing education and certifications are your required to have for this position?

6. what advice would you give a new nursing student?

...and any background infromation on yourself... education, how long have you been a nurse, etc..

Specializes in Med-Surg, Trauma, Ortho, Neuro, Cardiac.

1. what is your title? Staff RN in a trauma med-surg. unit

2. what are your nursing responsibilites? Mange the care of a group of patients, with the assistance of a patient care tech, to include medications, treatments, dishcarge planning, teaching, promiting their maximum level of wellness through assessment, collaboration with MDs and other departments, and nursing interventions

3. are you an hourly or salary nurse?hourly

4. how long have you worked on this unit/dept? how long have you worked for this company?I have worked for this unit 8 years, I have worked in this hospital for 14

5. what continuing education and certifications are your required to have for this position?My only requirement is an RN license and CPR. I have further certification from the ANCC in Medical Surgical Nursing, Advanced Cardiac Life Support. I've taken courses in EKG, ventilators, leadership, and progressive care. I'm currently pursing a BSN through an RN to BSN program

6. what advice would you give a new nursing student? Don't get behind whatever you do. Be a sponge, absorb everything you can, ask a lot of questions in clinical.
