Interview and Possibilities

Hello my darlings!

So great news! I got a job interview at nursing home that I have been trying to apply since I got my license, even before that! Anyways, it's tomorrow and I just wanted to ask for some pointers on what to expect. Types of questions, what to wear (Scrubs? Dress for the job you want?), what to be prepare for, etc. I understand that interviews are different for each person, however i want to be prepared every way possible.

Also, in the case that I do get the job, what are some tips for my first job as a CNA? It's a little nerve wracking to think about doing the job all by myself without any help. To be honest, I have a little self doubt, but I know I'll get the hang of it eventually. What was your first day like?

    Congratulations on getting the interview! I would recommend wearing business casual, definitely not scrubs. It would show professionalism and readiness if you bring a copy of your resume and CNA certificate to hand in to the hiring manager/administrator at the beginning of the interview. You may be asked about any past work experience, why you want to work at that particular nursing home, what is your role and function in a team, how would you handle a particular situation, what is your availability to work/how flexible are you, what is your educational/career plan in the future x amount of years...etc. It is certainly normal to feel nervous and nerve-wracking before an interview, but you will have an amazing experience if you stay positive, calm, truthful, and professional.     My first day as a CNA in a nursing home:

    I was nervous, but it was easy....because I was shadowing a seasoned CNA.

    It was my 7th day (the first day I was on my own with all 10 of my assigned residents) that was a nightmare! I was so far behind, unorganized, flustered.....When I got home (because I didn't have anytime to think about it at work) I thought "what the HECK did I get myself into!!!?".

    I tell all the brand new CNA's that about my experience and I laugh about it now.

    On your first several days, it's ok to freak out just a little when you are in the privacy of your own home ;). Just remember, you WILL get it all down and you will figure it all out. You'll be cruisin through a routine in no time.
