interview for HH

Hello Everyone

I am wondering if I can get some input.

I have 2 interviews lined up for different HHC companies this coming week.

1st position is salary M-F 8-4:30pm, have not been told much else about position.

2nd position is weekends only, no on call- possible full time with benefits- not guaranteed as of yet.

My questions are this what kind of pay should I expect with salary- will it include mileage? should I expect there to be an on call requirement?

Any opinion on salary versus hourly would be greatly appreciated.

I have worked in hospital since I became a nurse in 2013 and know that HHC will be very different. My biggest concern with switching is pay and benefits. Thanks uin advance for any input.

What are your scheduling priorities?

If time off and flexibility are high, I think you'll see less of that in a salaried position. You essentially will only be abLe to take time off after you have accrued PTO. You'll be guaranteed your wages but you'll likely have days you are more than earning them, I would check into compensation for excessive hours/patient visits.

Pay per visit has the most flexibility and depending on your set up, the potential for the highest earnings. You'll have high census peaks where you'll be working pretty hard and low periods when you will go home early (that's when I would hit the gym regularly or work on the garden.

Everything is dependent on your employer however and they can vary quite a lot. Once you've worked at least a year you'll be better able to know what's important to you and find your better fit. Experienced hh nurses with a strong grasp of oasis, hh regs and skills competencies are still not very common. Building a HH nurse is getting more intense these days and finding someone who isn't going to need a year of training is really worth something.

Thst said, I'd go for the full time salaried position. You'll know what you're making and they'll want to keep you busy which means continuous learning opportunities. But plan on a very challenging first year and then triple that.

Thank you For this insight, I went to interview yesterday and the interveiwers were very open about what to expect as far as hours worked, scheduling curveballs and I feel like they really wanted me to realize this could actually be a difficult transition for me. I am supposed to shadow another RN next week. Holding my final thoughts until then. :)
