1st we appreciate that you have reply us!!!!
We think that the patient gets immunosuppressed and he needs a special room because of infection, arewe right???
Thank for your help!!!!
Ps. sorry if we miss spell it, but in our country english is not our primary language and this is our 2nd year on college.
You're right that the patient will be immunocompromised and has a big risk of infetion. A private room would be a great start to limit the germs that the patient is exposed to. Try doing an internet search on "neutropenic precautions" and see if that gives you more information about what to do when a person is at risk for infection.
Also, consider how the patient might feel psychologically. They have cancer- how do they feel about it? How are they coping? What can you do, as a nurse, to support the patient? What resources can you suggest to the patient?
What is the current lab work for this patient?
I'm on chemo for this right now- and will help in whatever way I can :)
Do you have the subtype of AML?
Bone marrow bx results?
Age and other diagnoses of this patient?
What are the functions of the WBCs (neutrophils in particular), platelets, RBCs?
When you get that, what will you be looking for ?
Once more THANK YOU to anyone that reply to us.
Dear GrnTea:
He must be isoleted because like we said before is immonossupred so he has hight risk of infection. We think that we should look for the signs of infection like fever, edema, tierness... We
have to prevent infections and other type of complications that we still look for. We haven't the answer to your last question we still google on it.
Dear Ashley
Thank for the questions about is reaction to the disease it was something that we have coplitly forgot.
Dear Old Goat
We are so sorry to hear that you are on chemo, and we can't thank you enought for being helping us.
We were a litle bit confused about what you wrote we don't understand what is "Bone marrow bx results?" we look for but we couldn't understand the meaning of "bx", we also didn't understand what mean "What is the current lab work for this patient?" we translat for our language but we still not understanding the meaning. Sorry but we don't speak english.
He's 39 and he has no other complication. He only has AML. Our teacher said that the subtype of AML is a medical concern. But we have asked for that now.
Ps. sorry if we miss spell it, but in our country english is not our primary language and this is our 2nd year on college.
