internships for foreign trained nurses???

hi everyone...

i was looking something up on the internet and came across this site! this website is so informative and i think it's just awesome that a place like this exists! this is my first time posting and i hope i can find someone who can direct me in the right direction...well, i guess i should introduce myself first before i go on ...(-: my name is andrea and i am studying nursing in my final year (4th year) in zurich/switzerland. in order to learn more about the different health care systems outside of switzerland the nursing school that i am attending offers us the opportunity to do a 2 week internship at a hospital/health care facility abroad chosen by us.

i am very interested in getting more insight into the texan health care system, since i also could imagine working there on day in the near future after my graduation next year.

does anyone know which hospitals in the houston area offer those types of short-term internships for foreign trained nurses?does anyone know the right people that i could turn to?? there is no particular area of nursing practice that i wish to do that internship in; i would be pleased with anything that is offered to me.

i could also imagine spending those two weeks in home care or doing any type of voluteering...

it would be so great if you guys could give me some advice on this...thank you so much!

Texas Childrens Hospital in Houston offers these types of internships. We just had a 4 week internship student from Great Britian. If you want I can check here and find out what department you need to contact.

also, do you know if there's any type of community work on a voluntary basis that i could do in the houston area?? do you know who i would have to contact?
