I'm tired of the unacceptable CGFNS Study Guide!!!

i am studying using the cgfns study guide and i am amazed by the amount of mistakes and false information you can find especially in the supplemental booklets.

not only the cgfns is the worst red tape administration in the us, but they also provide terrible study material. i found unacceptable that they provide such poorly verified material to students. not only there are a lot of mistakes (like "less" instead of "more" or "increase" instead of "decrease" etc.) but they actually give false information on number of occasions. the study guide, many times, contradict the supplemental booklets (especially in psychiatry); and numerous times, for the exact same question with the exact same wording. considering how much they charge for the whole package they should at least provide reliable material.

so people, don't do like i did, please follow the allnurses' administrator advice and do everything you can to avoid this stupid cgfns exam. if you want to work in a state requiring the cgfns, then pass the nclex in a cgfns-free state and then endorse your license where you want to work. i thought it was going to be more trouble to do it that way and i wanted to do it the "right" way. i was so wrong!

i lost almost a year cause of the incredibly inefficient cgfns bureaucracy (not to mention how rude they are) and lost a lot of money too. i found out too late than endorsing your license in another state is not a big deal at all (way easier than the whole cgfns process).

hopefully, thanks to that post some of you won't fall in the same trap than i did.

ok, now that i expressed my anger i can go back to my books and try to the get the best out of it… exam in 2 weeks…

Depending on the state where you want to work in, you don't have a choice, there are still some who do require the exam. Suggest for everybody to do research and then decide which program they need.

For the mistakes in those booklets, best would be to contact CGFNS about it.

There's no point contacting CGFNS - they don't care. They don't care if they overcharge, or make errors that cost you time and money etc. They don't care that they have crap service and refuse to put you in touch with their supervisors.

I agree OP, they really suck. I did exactly all I could to avoid - used them for CES but got licensed in VT and then endorsed to PA to avoid having to do the CGFNS certification exam. Good luck with the exam!

Yes, I know. There is no way I'm gonna spend another half an hour on hold to tell them how poor are their material knowing perfectly that they won't give a ****.

I know that there are people that will be required to take the CGFNS no matter what and I feel bad for them. The point of my post is to tell people who do have the choice to do everything they can to avoid the CFGNS. They rip you off that's all they do.

Thks for the encouragement.
