CRNE Prep Guide..Should a new student get one?

I often read on the board how the nursing students in the states are encouraged to get the NCLEX book at the beginning of their program to use throughout and to get practice with the test questions.

Is purchasing the CRNE Prep Guide something that I should consider getting as I head into my first year of nursing school this fall? Would it not help me anyhow just as I progress through school with the critical thinking type questions? They do offer an RN exam workshop in our third year but gosh its $365.00.

I realize that they are now adding short answer type questions as well as multiple choice on the CRNE but I will do anything to succeed in this program so want to know if it is a good idea to purchase the book now? or wait and ask my instructors if they approve of that idea?

Thanks in advance:)

I'd also like to know! :)

Hi AlbertaRose,

I had nursing prep books when I first started nursing school, but most of the time I found them frustrating because I hadn't learned all the things I needed to know to answer the questions correctly. I put them down, and didn't really open them until final year when I was able to answer the questions with better results. I don't see any harm in looking at the books when you start, but remember things will come together to make more sense as you come to the end of your nursing program. Just a thought.

Thanks Pam:

That makes perfect sense. :)
